Clara Colop and her daughter Ishim Yac are the coordinators of the Asociación de Mujeres Ixchel, a small non-profit organization that serves Maya families, mainly in the western highlands Departments of Sololá, Totonicapán and Quetzaltenango. The GSP has built stoves with Clara and the communities she supports since 2002. Over the years the GSP has also funded a water system with the help of the Perth Rotary Club, reforestation projects, and a nutrition and chicken coup project. There has also been ongoing support of the Panimaquim, Escuela los Niños de Sam, since 2009. The GSP has also funded various environmental and medical emergency situations with Clara and her organization.
